Joseph Michael Sanders, 35, was charged with felony animal abuse after being arrested on April 18
The puppy goes flying out of the camera's field of vision before Sanders appears to violently kick again.
Detectives at Anaheim Police Department identified Sanders as the suspect on Thursday and urged the public to get in touch with details on his whereabouts.
He was taken into custody later that day and booked into the Anaheim PD Detention Facility for a felony arrest warrant.
As of Friday, they were still searching for the puppy.
'If you have information regarding the dog’s whereabouts, please contact the Anaheim PD at 714-765-1900 or your local law enforcement agency,' police said.
It comes after an unidentified Oklahoma City man was seen stomping on a puppy.
It remains unclear if this dog died, and authorities are looking for the man responsible.
He is seen bombarding the animal with blows before midnight on March 27, though officials say it's what can't be seen in the clip that is even more disturbing.

Cops are now searching for the man responsible, sharing footage of the March 27 incident on Tuesday. They are asking for citizens' help identifying the man. He is seen bombarding the dog with blows, though officials say it's what can't be seen in the clip that's even more disturbing
Just before, animal welfare officials and local cops said the man carried the puppy down the street by its back legs, dragging its nose on the pavement.
Following the awful beating, the video also shows the man picking the puppy up and throwing it on the ground before he leaves.
'Most people hear the stories about serial killers, start off killing animals, and it's a real thing,' said Jon Gary, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Superintendent.
'[The man in the footage] punches it multiple times, kicks on him, stomps on him.
'We have not found the puppy at this point,' he said, speaking to KWTV-DT.
